2019 Memorial Forest Weekend
We invite you, your family and friends to join us to view & reflect in this Year’s Memorial Forest.
Fish Creek Provincial Park
Saturday, September 14, 2019 – 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Sunday, September 15, 2019 – 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The Tree Dedication will proceed in all weather conditions.
The Memorial Forests are one way that McInnis & Holloway chooses to give back to the communities that allow us the privilege of serving them. Trees are planted in living memory of all whose funerals were entrusted to McInnis & Holloway.
Our forest maintenance personnel have been working throughout the summer to nurture our newest memorial planting site. We look forward to showing you the trees that have been planted as well as a sample of the granite marker that will be engraved with all names for whom a tree has been planted in the weeks following the memorial weekend. We invite you to share the day with your family and friends.
The Memorial Forest is meant to be a natural forest, one you can visit and enjoy and know that one of the trees has been planted in memory of your loved one. To ensure the area remains a natural forest there will be no choosing of trees and no markers or mementos are to be left by the trees. Anything left in the forest will be removed at the request of the Province of Alberta.
We encourage you to check your family member’s name listed on your invitation to ensure the spelling is printed correctly. All names in this year’s Memorial Forest will be published in the newspaper in the weeks prior to the memorial weekend. If a change is required please phone Kimberly Nichol at 403-243-8200 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our friendly and knowledgeable staff will have information regarding our Memorial Forest. Informal presentations will take place throughout each day that will provide information about our Memorial Forest. We know how important our Memorial Forest Tree Program is and by holding two days of dedications we want to ensure each family can come and enjoy the trees at their leisure. It is not necessary to RSVP.
The Burnsmead Forest is in a quiet, secluded area of Fish Creek Park, North of Sikome Lake. Due to the parking limitations in the Burnsmead area, we will have parking available in the Sikome North parking lots. McInnis & Holloway will provide shuttle services to and from the parking areas and this year’s planting area. If you prefer to walk, there will be a clearly marked pathway available. This is an approximate twenty-five minute walk. Dogs on a leash are welcome in the park and on the shuttle services.
