Atkio Ahfat, beloved husband of the late Ahlan Ahfat of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at the age of 101 years.
Atkio was born in Port Louis, Mauritius Island on June 10, 1919. He married Ahlan in 1946. Atkio retired in 1981 and moved to Canada in 1983. He was proud of the time spent raising his six children. Atkio’s most memorable vacation was when he went to China, the country of his ancestors.
He will be most remembered for drinking his whisky, playing blackjack and enjoying a cigarette. Atkio was a loving person with strong family values, always calm, soft-spoken and was blessed with a sharp memory till the end.
Atkio is survived by his sons, Mike (Ellen) Lee of Winnipeg, France (Elaine) Lee of BC, and Sylveste (Danielle) Ahfat of Calgary; daughters, Francoise (Alain) Yeung of Montreal, Cecile (Patrice) Chong of Calgary, and Mary-Jane (Jean-Noel) Sam of Cochrane; and grandchildren, Jason and Christopher Lee; Jonathan, Patrick and Michael Yeung; Justin and Desmond Lee, Sebastien and Nadine Ahfat; Christelle, Nicolas and Nicole Sam; and his dog Bruno. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ahlan, and his baby daughter Ah Soon.
A Private Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2021.
