Obituary of Lida Marie GORRELL

January 12, 1941 – Manners Sutton, New Brunswick August 13, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta Lida Marie Messer Gorrell, beloved mother, passed away at Foothills Hospital on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at the age of 78 years. Lida was born in Manners Sutton, NB on January 12, 1941. She was raised in Harvey Station and Fredericton, NB, and earned an RN degree from the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax, NS, as part of the Class of 62A and continued on to earn a neurology specialization from McGill University, QC. After working across the United States, she met and married James Wallace Gorrell. Lida and Jim lived and worked widely, living in Texas, Singapore, California, Abu Dhabi, Alberta, Alabama, Czech Republic, England, Egypt and Nova Scotia. She loved spending time with her family and friends, and enjoyed her book club, needlework, camping, hiking and travel. Lida will be remembered and greatly missed by her son Harley; daughters Andrea and Lora Leigh; son-in-law Jason Chrystal; granddaughters Ainsley and Elsa; brothers Duane Messer (Bonnie) of Fredericton, NB and Garnet Messer (Penny) of Orleans, ON; brothers-in-law Bill Gorrell (Toni) of Illinois; John Gorrell (Joann) of Georgia; Paul Gorrell of Florida; and sister-in-law Polly Burnsed (Bill) of Arizona, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She was pre-deceased by her husband and parents.
