Obituary of John Edward Cundall
Loving husband and best friend for over thirty-four years of Wendy (nee Grant) and doting father to Amanda, John passed away after a brief battle with cancer.
John was born in Porcupine Plain, SK. Being a good prairie boy, John chose a career at sea. After graduating from the Coast Guard College in Sydney, NS he worked aboard many ships including the weather ship off the coast of BC where he met Wendy in 1975 and, as they say, the rest is history! After moving to Alberta in 1977, John then worked for CANMAR for over twenty years prior to working for TransAlta. According to his co-workers at Trans-Alta, where he worked as the H&S Specialist, “nothing got past John when he was doing an inspection”! He was like that in his personal life as well. No one beat John at Trivial Pursuit! John loved to entertain and was known to all his friends as the resident sommelier and had been a member of the Opimian society for many years.
Besides his loving wife Wendy and daughter Amanda, John is also survived by his mother Penny (Brandon, MB) as well as his aunt, cousins, many nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. He was predeceased by his sister Paula and his father Jack. John will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
At his request there will be no formal funeral service. A Celebration of John’s life will take place at his residence on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
