Obituary of Fred B. GRANT

January 2, 1931 – Calgary, Alberta August 12, 2017 – Calgary, Alberta Fred B. Grant of Calgary, went peacefully to be with his Lord on August 12, 2017 at the age of 86 years after many years of Parkinson’s disease. Fred is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Gwen (nee Oliver); daughter Carolyn (Paul) Thorne of Kissimmee, FL; sons Brian (Peggy) of Plano, TX, Roger (Cheryl) of Calgary and Lloyd (Kerri) of Sioux City IA; granddaughters Pamela Cantrell (Kyle) of Kissimmee, FL, Andrea (Andy) Hoffman of Yorktown, VA, Claire Grant of Denver, CO, Mikellie Grant of Sioux City, IA and Meredith Grant of Calgary; grandsons Zach (Rachel) Grant of Sioux City, IA, Tyler Thorne of Kissimme, FL, Matt Thorne of Wake Forest, NC, Josh (Olivia) Grant of Dallas, TX, TJ Grant of Ames, IA and Declan Grant of Calgary; and five great-grandsons. He is also survived by sisters Lorna Smith of Abbotsford, Mavis Williams of Calgary and Rosemary Silver of Kelowna and thirty seven nieces and nephews. Fred was predeceased by his parents Gilbert and Mary Grant; six brothers and two sisters. He was a long-term employee of Pacific Petroleums and PetroCanada and served others in a variety of ways, including on the national and provincial boards of The Society of Management Accountants, as an elder of Bethany Chapel and Berea Chapel and a member of the executive of Banff Trail Community Association. He was also a member of the Master’s Singers for many years. His family would like to express deep appreciation and gratitude to all the staff at BowView Manor for the attentive care they provided him. A Memorial Service will be held at Richmond Hill Baptist Church (7251 Sierra Morena Blvd SW, Calgary, AB), on Monday, August 21, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow.
