Obituary of Wade Gavin MERRICK

January 3, 1969 – Lethbridge, Alberta August 9, 2017 – Calgary, Alberta Wade Gavin Merrick, beloved husband of Karen Merrick of Calgary, AB, passed away on August 9, 2017 at the age of 48 years. Wade worked as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer for over 25 years, most recently as a Maintenance Quality Specialist for Jazz Aviation since 2013. Wade loved to spend time with his young family. Whether it was nurturing Connor’s growing interest in aviation or encouraging Dawson’s love for playing hockey, Wade was always a shining example of fatherhood. He was also a devoted husband to Karen, with whom he enjoyed many bucket-list travel & concert adventures within recent years. Wade was also passionate about golf and he enjoyed hitting the links whenever he had the chance. Wade is survived by his wife Karen, and his children Connor and Dawson; his father Francis Merrick (Debbie) of Royston, BC; mother Linda Vlielander (John) of Lethbridge, AB; brother Damon McCorquodale of Calgary, AB; grandmother Flo Kisel of West Kelowna, BC; father-in-law and mother-in-law Wilfred and Eveline Schiewe, brother-in-law Brian Schiewe, nephew Robert and niece Chloe, all of Morris, MB. Wade was predeceased by his sister-in-law Joanne Schiewe. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Deerfoot South, 12281 – 40th Street S.E.) on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. Reception to follow at the funeral home.
