Obituary of Maureen Joan SIKORSKI

September 23, 1949 – Calgary, Alberta September 14, 2017 – Calgary, Alberta Maureen, beloved wife of Lionald Sikorski of Calgary, AB, passed away on September 14, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 67 years. Maureen grew up on the ranch in the Millarville area. Family meant everything to Maureen. She was the eldest of eight children of Fred and Una Ball and a mother of two. Maureen started her career at Spalding Hardware in Calgary where she met her husband Lionald. Later she had a thirty-eight-year career with The City of Calgary which was both rewarding and challenging. Maureen will be lovingly remembered by her beloved husband Lionald of forty-five years. She leaves behind her daughter Leana Ashbacher (Zane) of Turner Valley, and her son Michael Sikorski (Brandy) of Calgary, Alberta. Also, left to mourn her passing are her four lovely grandchildren; Isabella and Neena Sikorski, and Colton and Chinook Ashbacher; as well as her brothers and sisters Daniel Ball (Michelle), David Ball (Jody), Colleen Nelson (Ron), Glenn Ball (Pat), Keith Ball (Ingrid), Elaine Thompson (Ted), Kathleen Waring (Gavin), sister-in-law, Christine Klimczak (Don) along with many nieces an nephews. Maureen was predeceased by her parents Fred and Una Ball. The family wish to thank all the staff at the Southwood Hospice for their loving care. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (640 – 19th Avenue N.W.) on Friday, September 22, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
