Obituary of Barry William KORPATNISKY

August 21, 1950 – Foam Lake, Saskatchewan September 11, 2017 – Calgary, Alberta Barry, beloved husband of Cynthia Korpatnisky passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, far too young at the age of 67 years. Barry, lovingly referred to as “Bears” by everyone who knew him, loved life to the fullest. He was involved in many activities in which he was given the opportunity to help others. He always had everyone’s best interests at heart. A Rotarian since 1982, club President 1990-1991, A Paul Harris Fellow, involved in Rotary Youth Exchange, counselor for Lucas from Brazil & Ai from Japan & was host family for Lucas for 5 months & spent countless hours parking cars for the club’s fund raiser at Spruce Meadows Events, and lived by the “service above self” motto. He had 3 careers, firstly as a “B” Pressure Welder, Pipefitter and then a very successful & respected Realtor for the last 36 years, starting in 1981. Barry loved all activities, Baseball, Hockey, Golfing, Curling, Water & Snow Skiing, Sailing, Travelling, Beach Holidays, being on his boat & tractor, building & fixing things. Barry will be lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. The lake was his favourite place, even after all the travelling he did. He designed the house where friends thought it was impossible to build, lovingly built the shed to match the house complete with engineered roof trusses. Barry is survived by his Wife, Cynthia, of 42 years of marriage, his sister-in- law Donna (Craig) Jones, his mother-in-law Julia Woods, his sister Darlene (Glen) Gogol, nephew Travis, niece Tammy & great nephew Carter and numerous cousins, extended family & friends. Barry was predeceased by his parents, Wasyl and Mary Korpatnisky, his brother Irwin & his great niece Karlee. Thank you to all our friends, Rotary Club Calgary Chinook, the Southwood Hospice & and the doctors & staff at the Invermere Hospital, for all their care & support. A Celebration of Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, AB) on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 2:00 p.m., with a memory party to follow. In lieu of flowers please donate to Rotary of Calgary Clubs Foundation or Foundation for Seniors-Hearts of Excellence, specifying funds for Hospice Care.
