Obituary of Darko Karlo PREPOLEC

June 4, 1956 – Zagreb, Croatia August 28, 2017 – Calgary, Alberta Darko Prepolec, beloved husband of Julianna Prepolec of Calgary, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2017 at the age of 61 years. Darko was born in Croatia and immigrated to Canada when he was a young boy. He attended the University of Alberta for his Engineering Degree and thereafter worked with his father building homes throughout Calgary. He met Julianna, the love of his life, in his early 30s and together they raised three wonderful children. Darko enjoyed his career with Canada Post for over 20 years and cherished the friends he made there. When not delivering mail, he could be found crushing grapes for homemade wine, watching his Calgary Flames or Stampeders games, or fly fishing in the nearest river. Darko is survived by his loving wife Julianna, children Emily Varga (Andrew Buchan), Karlo Prepolec, Richard Prepolec (Jiwon Uh), his mother Ivanka Prepolec, uncle Vicky and auntie Lucy, cousins Charles and Boris, best friend Jimmy Iuliani and his beloved pets Smoky and Miss Poppy. He was predeceased by his father Bozidar Prepolec. Funeral Services will be held at Our Lady Of Marija Bistrica Croatian Catholic Church (14680 Deer Ridge Drive SE, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow at the Church Hall.
