Obituary of Helmut LEIMER

May 14, 1931 – Vienna, Austria August 19, 2017 – Calgary, Alberta Bob passed away peacefully, surrounded by his devoted family, listening to Austrian folk music and looking out upon the city he called home. Son to Hermine and Ludwig, and brother to his identical twin “Willie”, Bob was born in Vienna, Austria in 1931. Growing up in a war-torn city, at age 14 he started his apprenticeship, repairing weigh scales. At 20, Bob left Vienna and embarked on the journey of a lifetime and immigrated to Calgary, Canada. Here he joined the Canadian Armed Forces and fell in love with an amazing woman, with whom he married and started raising a family. After serving his new country, Bob returned to his trade and eventually started his own business, repairing scales for many of Calgary’s businesses. Bob and his wife Sal followed their dream and moved to the country, built a log home and pursued his creative passion in making wooden toys for his family and others. Bob had a great journey and will be missed so much. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, three sons, four grandchildren, and two great-grandkids.
