Obituary of Peter TAKS

January 20, 1925 – Etten-Leur , Netherlands September 7, 2016 – Calgary, Alberta It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather Peter Taks on September 7th 2016 at the age of 91 years. He was born in Etten-Leur, Netherlands on January 20th, 1925 to parents Lambertus and Cornelia Taks; he was the fourth oldest of 6 children. Peter married Ruth Beierback, December 27, 1946 in Walsh, AB and they farmed on the family farm for 3 years before purchasing land near Cremona. In 1951, their son Murray was born. In 1953, Peter purchased the land which is the home quarter. Pete knew from a very young age that farming was his life passion. He took so much pride in farming his land and raising cattle. Peter was an avid curler and was a competitive bridge player. He loved to visit with friends and was always willing to help build up the community. Peter was a great family man; he enjoyed watching the grandkids grow up on the farm. He was overjoyed when his two little great- grandsons were around. In his later years, his favorite past time was taking an afternoon drive to the farm. He was always aware of the goings on and would always be the one to find a cow calving or an open gate. He spent his last days surrounded by his loving family. He leaves behind his beloved son Murray (Reba); his grandchildren Julie, Ryan(Kendra) and Kevin(Amy); great-grandsons Harlan and Decker, brother Con (Audrey); and sister-in-law Twilo Taks. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 46 years, Ruth; his parents, Lambertus and Cornelia; brothers George, John, and Lambertus ; sister Mary Van Dogan; brother-in-laws Joe Van Dogan and Clarence Beierback; sister-in-laws Myrtle Taks and Gladys Taks ; and his second wife Pearlie Taks.
