Obituary of Sean Vincent WAITE
WAITE, Sean Vincent
November 16, 1967 – November 4, 2015
Sean loved Jessica, Dash, and his family and friends with all his heart. He poured his heart into everything: his work, his hobbies, and the people that he met along the way. And on November 4, 2015 after 47 years of whole-hearted living, Sean’s giant heart was spent.
Sean’s parents, Jack and Pat, were incredible sources of inspiration. They gave him guidance, wisdom and fortitude, and afforded him the special kind of freedom that comes with being the youngest of many children. Sean’s free-ranging childhood gave way to many legendary exploits with his friends from Elbow Park, Rideau Park, and Bishop Carroll schools.
Sean’s siblings, Rory (Wendy), Riley (Erin), Megan (Bart), Tyrone (Jenn) and Darrel (Sandra) were unbelievable role models, partners-in-crime, and occasional tormenters. Invited or not, Sean tagged along on their pursuits. As a result, Sean became well-rounded in many areas. His love of model-building, hockey and baseball, military history, cooking and board games can be traced back to Sean’s remarkable upbringing.
Sean’s life was full of adventures that began on Riverdale Avenue, expanded to other provinces and countries, but were always grounded by his love of Calgary, which he knew he would make his permanent home.
Sean loved family traditions and created many for every occasion. He was unwavering in his care and attention to his parents in their declining health. Sean was the family glue, a role that Sean inherited from his father. He was well on the way to instilling these values in his son. It was certainly evident in his role as a fun-loving uncle to: Nolan, Aidan and Delaney; Chandra, Alex, Hannah and Isaac; Lucas and Justin; and Emma.
Sean’s three-year adventure to teach English in Japan was pivotal in his life. It was where he met Jess and also where he formed his views on family and life and where he found his career direction.
Through his impressive career rise, Sean was based in four different countries and visited most corners of the world. Sean took his family to Singapore for three years, during which they explored much of southeast Asia and welcomed many friends and family to visit their Singapore home.
Sean made an indelible impression on everyone he met, wherever he went. His caring, generous nature meant that everyone he encountered felt special. Sean’s name would be at the top of anyone’s list of ‘people who will always be there for you’. These were specifically ‘Sean’ attributes that endeared him to many people, from all parts of his life.
