Obituary of Olive Elizabeth HOLMES

June, 3, 2015 – Okotoks, Alberta
Olive Holmes passed away in Okotoks on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at the age of 99 years. Olive was born and raised on their farm in New Brigden, the second youngest of seven children. In 1935 she married Nelson Holmes and raised four children in New Brigden. Nels and Olive retired to Calgary in 1968. She resided in her own home until 2008 after which she moved to the Boardwalk Retirement Community. Nothing brought her greater joy than a visit, a phone call or a letter from a loved one or a friend. Olive was a dedicated volunteer who devoted her time to her church and the community. Her favourite activities included reading, crocheting, knitting and watching sports such as curling, hockey and football.
Olive is survived by her children, Thelma Young (Alan) and Gerry Holmes; daughter-in-law Lillian Holmes; grandchildren, Darrel Robinson (Denise), Donna Norby, Gordon Robinson (Shawnee), Kerri Butler (Gord), Craig Holmes (Jacqui), Brenda Bryson (Tim),Tara Young (Dave Hess), Alana Young, Vicki Marleau (Luc), Stacey Holmes (Scott Orr); great-grandchildren, Carolynn Robinson, Curtis Robinson, Taylor Robinson, Shawn Robinson, Ty Butler, Janna Bryson, Erin Bryson, Tanner Angstadt, Gavin Angstadt, Alexa Hess and Madison Marleau. She was predeceased by her husband Nelson Holmes, son Milton Holmes, daughter Jean Robinson, son-in-law Ben Robinson and grand son-in-law Dale Norby. She was also predeceased by her parents, siblings and their spouses.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, June 8, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
