Obituary of Marie Anastasia GODFREY

February 18, 1925 – May 14, 2015 Marie Anastasia Godfrey passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Clifton Manor in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 90. She was born in North Bay, Ontario on February 18, 1925. In 1948, Marie married John Godfrey and moved to Calgary where they raised their five children, Jay Godfrey (Judy Snyder) of Calgary, Alison Foster (David) of Calgary, Neil Godfrey (Joanne) of Priddis, Paul Godfrey (Jeanie) of Canmore, and Colleen Burgess (Peter) of Calgary. She was a loving grandmother to eight grandchildren, Jill Paddock (Darren), Sarah Ortega (Aaron), Ben Godfrey (CJ), Heather and Matthew Burgess, Reed and Ty Godfrey, and Angella Foster, and five great grandchildren, Zack, Owen and Adam Paddock, and Talia and Liam Ortega. Marie’s life was remarkably changed when she accepted her Lord and Saviour, Jesus, and became a Christian. To all who knew Marie, she would be only too pleased to thank the Lord for redirecting her life, changing her heart, and bringing her peace, joy and great comfort. Marie was a very hard worker inside and outside the home. She loved to spend time in her beautiful garden, to be around people, to go shopping, to wear hats, and to meet with her coffee gals and the Red Hatters. She especially enjoyed her family, hosting special occasions and being with her dear grand and great-grandchildren. Marie was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and often became fast friends with strangers, after a warm word and a quick laugh. She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her. A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive S.W.
