Obituary of Lorna Elaine RENNIE
May 10, 1955 – Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
March 10, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta
Lorna Rennie, beloved wife of Bill Rennie of Calgary, died on Sunday, March 10, 2019 at the age of 63 years.
Lorna was born in and spent her early years in Saskatoon where she attended Haultain Elementary School, Aden Bowman Collegiate and Robertson Business College. While in grade twelve she began dating her life partner Bill and they married in 1975. Little did she know the size of the extended Rennie/Logan and Hodgins family she was marrying into. Later that year they moved to Calgary. Lorna worked for the first few years of their marriage as a secretary and then devoted her life to raising their children and keeping Bill in line. Bill’s work in the oil patch took them to live in Ponoka, back to Calgary, Estevan, Red Deer and back to Calgary again. Despite all the moves, Lorna and Bill maintained a summer cottage at Hidden Valley Golf Resort for thirty-three years until its demise with the 2013 flood. Many friendships were made over the years both at the cottage and everywhere they lived.
Lorna kept busy assisting Jeannie and her late husband Harper as they aged. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren and would have loved to see them grow up. Lorna took pleasure in feeding the birds and the squirrels in the backyard. She especially liked the native red squirrels who she all named “squeaky”.
Lorna will be missed by husband of forty-four years, Bill; her sons, Ryan (Elizabeth), and Stacey (Kate); her daughter Heather (Cam); grandchildren Tyson, Payton, Vera, Hamish and William; and many aunts and uncles, brothers and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by very special friend Jeannie Thornton who was like a second Mother to her.
She was predeceased by her parents Stan and Betty Thompson, and daughter Gillian.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (), on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
