Obituary of Phyllis Bertha RUBIN

September 7, 1920 - October 17, 2019

After a long and fulfilling life, Phyllis Rubin passed away on October 17, 2019 at the age of 99.

She will be missed by all who knew her, especially her children, Patty & Doran Veiner, Earl & Mazal Rubin & Stan & Suzette Rubin; her grandchildren, Sima Veiner (Steven), Sharlee Bergman (David), Daniel Veiner (Kate), Noam Rubin (Eliora), Orie Rubin (Oshrat), Joe Rubin (Casey), Clara and Sophie Rubin; ten great-grandchildren and her nieces, nephews and friends.

Born September 7, 1920 in Trochu, AB to Charles and Ethel Waterman, Phyllis was the youngest of four children. Her family moved to Calgary in 1921 and established themselves as founding members of the Jewish Community. She met her beloved Al Rubin a tea to entertain the service men. They married in 1944 & celebrated 68 years together before his passing in 2011. She was a wonderful wife and mother who devoted herself to her family and community. 

Thank you to all her dear friends, who visited regularly bringing laughter and treats, and to her wonderful caregivers at Chinook Care Centre Richards Way unit.  Their kindness and compassionate care are greatly appreciated.

Graveside Service will be held at the Erlton Jewish Cemetery, (Corner of Erlton Street and 30 Avenue SW, Calgary, AB) on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. with refreshments to follow at the Carriage House Inn.

Phyllis and Alex were passionate supporters of Jewish Family Service and those who desire may make a donation in her honour.
