Obituary of Sigfrido SANTIAGO

Sigfrido Santiago, beloved husband of Aida (nee Espiritu) of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at the age of 81 years.

Sigfrido, better known as ‘Ed’ by his family and friends, was born in Manila, Philippines on August 18, 1938. He graduated from the University of the Philippines with a Bachelor of Science in Geology and a Masters of Geology at the University of Kansas. Ed worked primarily in the oil & gas and mining industries. His work took him many different places, but his most fond memories were of the Arctic.　

Ed and Aida were married on April 12, 1969 in Lynn Lake, Manitoba and eventually made Calgary, Alberta their home. He was an active member of church and with the Knights of Columbus (3rd Degree). He enjoyed reading, watching sports on TV, collecting coins and stamps. Ed will be most remembered for his sense of humor and love of chocolate, candies and ice cream.

Besides his loving wife, Ed is survived by his children Sylvia and Sigfrid (Nicolette); his grandchildren Shayne and Nixon; and his sister Soledad Nielsen.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Eastside, 5388 Memorial Drive NE, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (1525 – 45th Street SE, Calgary, AB) on Friday, November 15, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences may be forwarded through www.McInnisandHolloway.com
