Obituary of Frances (Fran) BURLAND

May 2, 1924 – Winnipeg, Manitoba
November 12, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

Frances Burland of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at the age of 95 years.

Fran had a wonderful life working as a Registered Nurse in her home town of Winnipeg, MB and briefly in Bermuda.  After marrying her sweetheart, Dr. George Burland, they moved to Boston, MA for two years before settling in Olds, AB.  While in Olds, Fran devoted herself to raising her five children with George.  Fran enjoyed curling in the winter, golf in the summer, painting, playing Bridge, Spite and Malice with the girls over coffee and shopping anytime. Together with George they enjoyed their retirement years in Sun City West, Arizona.

Fran was a kind, thoughtful, loving, and classy woman with a sharp sense of humour. Fran made friends wherever she was, with her infectious laugh and beautiful smile.  She was warm, friendly, and gracious; she would always make people feel welcome.  Fran loved fashion, golf, painting, hummingbirds and the occasional glass of Scotch!  She was loved, treasured by all and will be greatly missed.

Fran is survived by her loving children, Rich (Corinne), Rob (Sue), Brian (Lori), Margie (Dave) and Trish (Dan); six grandchildren, two step grandchildren, one great-grandchild and four step great-grandchildren, all of which brought her great joy.  Fran was predeceased by her beloved husband Dr. George Burland.
