Obituary of Louis (Lajos) KESJAR

August 10, 1934 – Bekecsaba, Hungary

November 12, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

Louis Kesjar, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on November 12, 2019, at the age of 85.

Louis was born in Békéscsaba, Hungary. In 1956, at the age of twenty-two, he came to Calgary. It was here that he met Violet, the absolute love of his life. Louis’ greatest joy, above all else, was his family. He was never more content than when he was surrounded by his daughters and granddaughters, a joy he was fortunate to experience often. Although he loved and appreciated his life in Canada, Louis always held a special place in his heart for Hungary. If ever asked about it, he would beam at the opportunity to tell stories about his homeland. Louis loved the simple joys of life. He was a sports fanatic; he loved to watch soccer, hockey, and basketball. He enjoyed old cartoons and comic books. Most of all, he could sit and watch his granddaughters play for hours upon hours. Louis always, always said “I love you”. He too, was, and always will be, dearly loved in return.

Louis will be lovingly missed by all of his girls, his wife of fifty-nine years, Violet Kesjar; his daughters, Erica (Jeff) Lebbert, Cyndi (Sid) Rieger, and Monica (Marc) Francescangeli; and his granddaughters, Lauren, Jenny, Jessica, Taylor, Sophia, Grace and Audrey.
