Obituary of Vera Evelyn BLENCOWE (nee CHURCHILL)

December 4, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

Vera Blencowe of Calgary AB passed away peacefully at Newport Harbour Care Centre on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at the age of 90 years.

Vera was born and raised in Edmonton until age fourteen when the family moved to Olds. She then moved to Red Deer in 1950 with her parents Warren and Dale Churchill, along with her step-brothers Stanley and Herald. In 1957, Vera married the love of her life Evan (Bob) Blencowe in Red Deer, AB. They relocated to Calgary, and moved into the family home on Chicoutimi Drive in Calgary’s NW. Shortly after, they started their family.

Vera is survived by her sons, Rob and wife Katherine, and Tom and wife Jennifer; her grandchildren, Fulton (Paige), Keven, Stephanie, Jesse (Jennifer), Jennifer, and Heather; and step-brothers, Harold Pearson and Gordon Churchill. Vera was predeceased by her husband, Bob.

Vera lived life to the fullest, she will be fondly remembered and dearly missed.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB), on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
