Obituary of Alice Anne VAN BIEZEN

June 10, 1944 - St. John’s, Newfoundland

December 18, 2019 - Calgary    Alberta

Alice Anne “Annie” Van Biezen,  beloved wife of Hans VanBiezen of Airdrie, AB passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at the age of 75 years.

Anne Van Biezen was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, on June 10, 1944, as the first of six children of William and Beatrice Bindon. Anne grew up in St. John’s where she studied nursing and always enjoyed entertaining and hosting music and dancing filled soirees. Anne’s love of nursing would eventually bring her to Alberta so she could pursue greater opportunities for herself and two daughters Carolyn and Denise.

Eventually Anne found herself practicing nursing at The Holy Cross Hospital in Calgary, AB and would soon meet what would become the love of her life, Hans Van Biezen. Hans, a public-school teacher and skilled tradesman and Anne the loving nurse from there went on to build their own home in Airdrie where they remained into their retirement. Hans is an avid camper and outdoorsman and although Anne was foreign to the concept of camping soon would grow to love and cherish their annual roadtrips through BC and beyond. Anne was a proud mother and grandmother and always enjoyed putting on the magic of Christmas for all her family to enjoy.

Anne was a fun and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will always be remembered with love by her husband Hans;  children Carolyn McDonald and Denise Grimes and step-children Troy Van Biezen (Carol), Todd Van Biezen (Ineke) and Tyler Van Biezen (Lena); as well as her five  siblings, Sandra Mitchell (Kirke), Carol Bindon (Philip), Janice Bindon, Bill Bindon (Kate) and Michelle Bindon (Ken); as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
