Carlo ROMANO

Obituary of Carlo ROMANO

March 26, 1927 - Altilia, Cosenza, Italy

January 7, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Surrounded by family our beloved Father and Nonno passed away peacefully to be rejoined in Heaven with his loving wife Maria on January 7, 2020.

Born in 1927 in Altilia, Cosenza Italy. Nonno was much adored by his children, Lucia (Francois) Cousin and Alberto (Maria-Teresa) Romano; and beloved by grandchildren, Xavier, Michela, Luca, Giulia, and Gabriele. He is survived by his brother Alberto of Calgary, his eldest brother Gaetano (Ida) and Virgilio (Sandra) of Rome. He was predeceased by his brother Generoso of Rome. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Giuseppe (Anna) Lombardo and Alfonso Vona; and sister-in-law Oliva of Rome, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Carlo dedicated himself to serving his wife, children and grandchildren and in particular his brother Alberto. For the last nine years Nonno Carlo resided at both Garrison Green and Carewest Garrison Green where he was affectionately known as Papa, always greeting everyone with a smile, he made many friendships and became an accomplished artist.

The greatest legacy Nonno has left us is the importance of family - he taught us how to love each other, respect others, and build relationships. To look past our differences, be united, and to share the gifts the Lord has blessed upon us with others.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael Catholic Community (800 – 85th Street S.W.) on Friday, January 17, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Services to follow at Queen’s Park Mausoleum, followed by a Reception at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB).  If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to Calgary Health Trust – Carewest, Suite 800, 11012 Macleod Trail S.E., Calgary, AB  T2J 6A5, Telephone: (403)943-0615, www.thetrust.ca.
