Obituary of Douglas (Doug) Lowney ADAMSON

Douglas (Doug) Lowney Adamson, beloved husband of the late Evelyn Adamson (nee Hurlburt), of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2020 at the age of 96 years.

Doug was born in Edmonton, AB, on June 16, 1923, as the fourth and youngest son of John and Ida Adamson (nee Mackenzie). He married Evelyn in 1947, and she was his partner and best friend for most of his life. Over the years, they operated a grocery store, worked in real estate together, and took their family on many camping adventures. They lived on acreages in Rimbey, Creston, and Cochrane, until Evelyn’s passing, when Doug moved back to Calgary and was able to be cared for by his family throughout his final years.

He will be dearly missed by his children, Larry (Chris) Adamson, Randal Adamson, and Heather (Richard) Bryant. He also leaves his grandchildren, Maria Bayle, Meghan Morden, Adam Bryant, and Natalie Adamson. Doug was predeceased by his beloved wife, Evelyn, who passed away in 2005 after fifty-seven years of marriage, and by his much-loved daughter, Sandra Dawn Foster, in 1981. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Mac, Charlie, and Jim.

Funeral Services will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church (290 Edgepark Boulevard N.W., Calgary, AB) on Friday, January 17, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Church Hall. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Doug’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
