Obituary of Patricia Ann SCHUSTER (nee Morphy)

January 12, 1948 – Toronto, Ontario
January 17, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Patricia Ann Schuster wife of Edmund Schuster, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2020 at the age of 72 years.

Pat was born in Toronto, ON, on January 12, 1948. 

Pat received her RN in Calgary at the Holy Cross Hospital, and graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, and her Masters in Adult Education Degree from the University of Calgary. She was also published in the American Medical Journal. Pat married Ed in Calgary on May 6, 1972. She accomplished much through her life and was particularly proud of her daughters, Nadene and Brittany. Pat loved teaching and nursing in multiple areas. Her most memorable vacation was when her youngest daughter, Brittany got married in Cuba on April 20, 2010. 

Pat’s favourite quote was “I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul.” 

She will be most remembered for her teaching abilities, and her kind, caring, sweet and loving nature, as well as her ability to tell a good story. Her qualities attracted many people to her, while her quick wit elicited many moments of joy and laughter from her friends and other people who shared in her life. 

Besides her loving husband, Pat is survived by her two daughters, Nadene, and Brittany (Jordan), along with their two children, Blair and Maquel; brother David (Joan), and their two sons Kyle (Tracey), and Ryan (Ewa) and their children, Conner and Lauren. Pat was predeceased by her parents Theodore and Eileen, and her brother Ted. 

The Funeral Service will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church (541 Silvergrove Drive N.W., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the church.

Pat’s family wishes to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation for the loving care that Pat received while living at Covenant Care St. Teresa’s Place, and their medical staff that attended to her needs. 

The family also wishes to sincerely thank the Peter Lougheed Centre emergency staff for their compassionate, attentive and understanding care during Pat’s final hours.
