Obituary of Patricia Emily Joan BOARD

August 3, 1942 – Chatham, Ontario   

January 28, 2020 – Didsbury, Alberta  

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Patricia Emily Joan Board of Crossfield, AB on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at the age of 77 years. She succumbed to cancer after an 8 year battle, passing at the Didsbury Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Pat was born in Chatham, Ontario where she was raised and spent many of her summers in Blenheim, Ontario, on Lake Erie where she met the love of her life, Ken.  They lived in Kingston, Ontario before moving the family to Alberta in the late 70’s.

Pat loved to travel to her favourite destination, Los Cabos Mexico.  Her loved hobbies were raising Alpacas, and she was never happier than when the new babies came on board.  She spent many hours knitting items from her alpaca wool. Her and Ken loved to camp, garden together and canning the fruits of their labour.  But her greatest love was her family.

Pat will be dearly missed by her family and those who knew her.

Pat is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Ken Board; her loving children, Cathy Demers of Parksville, BC, Herb Board (Heather) of Calgary, AB, and Rob Board (Mary) of Crossfield, AB.  She was a caring grandmother of four, Kyle, Haley, Ryan and Trevor; and soon to be a great-grandmother to her first great-grandson, Declan. She will be dearly missed by her brother Doug Taylor (Sharon); and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was predeceased by her father Norm Taylor, mother Helen Taylor; her brother Bill Taylor and sister Mary Huckle.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Airdrie, 300 Towerlane Drive, Airdrie, AB) on Friday, January 31, 2020 from 1:00 p.m.  to 3:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held at Airdrie United Church (212 – 1st Avenue N.E., Airdrie, AB) on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home.
