Obituary of Rosa IZZO (nee Foglia)

Rosa Izzo of Calgary, AB passed away on Monday, February 3, 2020 at the age of 84 years, with her loving family by her side.

Rosa was born to Angela Romei and Lorenzo Foglia on July 30, 1935, in Serino, Avellino, Italy. In 1960 Rosa immigrated to Calgary, where she then met her loving husband Luigi. They married in 1965 and started their family with the birth of their first son Rocco Antonio “Tony”, followed by Lorenzo and daughter Angela. Rosa was an immensely proud Mother and Nonna, taking great care of her children and granddaughters, leaving behind nothing but beautiful memories. She always put her interests aside to ensure the happiness of all others around her. Rosa was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, especially over the holidays.

Rosa is survived by her two sons and daughter-in-law, Rocco Antonio “Tony”, and Lorenzo (Danielle); daughter Angela, and two granddaughters, Izabella and Rheanna, all of Calgary, AB. She is also survived by her brothers, Isidoro Foglia of Calgary, AB, Osvaldo Foglia, Aurelio Foglia, Fausto Foglia, and Luca Foglia, all of Italy; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Rosa was predeceased by her loving husband of thirty-nine years, Luigi Izzo; and brothers, Lorenzo Foglia and Sergio Foglia.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Parish (1714 – 14th Avenue N.E., Calgary, AB) on Friday, February 7, 2020 at 10:30 a.m.  Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Mausoleum.  Reception to follow in the Parish Hall.
