Obituary of Barbara Alice BENNETT (nee Turnbull)

March 31, 1950 – Toronto, Ontario
February 5, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Alice Bennett on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at the age of 69 years old.

Barbara was born on March 31, 1950 in Toronto, Ontario. She grew up in Georgetown, Ontario, where she met and fell in love with her husband. She married Bradley Bennett on July 20, 1968. They had two children and in 1975 made the big move out west to Calgary, Alberta. Barbara worked for many years in the government sector at the Employment Insurance office. She retired in 2008.

Barbara was an avid camper who loved the outdoors, especially her times at Premier Lake in British Columbia, and the time she was able to spend at the cabin in Alberta Beach, Alberta, a few doors down from Roy MacGregor. Barbara was a kind and gentle soul with a heart of gold. She was very family oriented. She adored and doted on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a great listener who could always gently offer sound advice.

Barbara leaves behind her beloved husband Bradley Bennett; her two daughters, Julie Bennett (Robin Messer), and Wendy Peters; her seven grandchildren Kyla, Meagan, Mitchell, Jaxon, Jewel, Jade, and Spencer (Lea); her three great-grandchildren Nathan, Katlin, and Colten; and her two younger brothers, Phil Turnbull and Blair Turnbull.

She will be sadly missed by her sisters-in-law Gail Bennett of Simcoe, Ontario, Kelley Gray of Burlington, Ontario, Ruthann Turnbull of Calgary, Alberta, and Linda Turnbull of Calgary, Alberta; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and many cousins. She will also be missed by her many, many friends.

Barbara was predeceased by her parents; her sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Ken Kyme; and her brother Wayne Turnbull.

A celebration of Barbara Bennett's life is being planned, and a date is yet to be determined. An announcement will be made in the near future. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Barb’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
