Obituary of William "Bruce" SWINTON

July 16, 1927 – Toronto, Ontario
February 5, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Bruce Swinton of Calgary, AB passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at the age of 92 years, he joins June his loving wife of 67 years who passed in 2015. 

Bill/Bruce transferred from Oshawa to Calgary in 1960 with his family. Bruce joined The Global Furniture Group, working with both his sons in a career that lasted thirty-three years. He was an active member of the Kinsmen Club of Calgary, where he met many of his closest friends. An avid traveller, he and June visited fifty countries. Community minded, Bruce volunteered with the Calgary Stampede for many years, writing the parade line-up. As a raconteur extraordinaire and amateur historian, Bruce entertained his family for hours on end. 

Bruce will be greatly missed by his five children and their spouses, Murray (Leanna) Swinton, Jim (Nikki) Swinton, Debbie (Garry) Potter, Wendy Swinton (Randy Park), Sandy (Brian) Donald; nine grandchildren, Kris (Jane) Swinton, Stacey (Kirk) Slone, Lindsey Swinton (Yemi Adeniyi), Jenny (Geoffrey) Frost, Adam Campbell, Matthew (Emma) Campbell, Karla (Danny) Smit, Ryan (Chantelle) Donald, Lauren Donald; seventeen great-grandchildren 18th due this month.  Bruce also leaves behind his sister-in-law Marlene and niece and nephews in Ontario. He was predeceased by his loving wife  June; his granddaughter Krystle June Donald at birth; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Audrey Johnson, brother-in-law Murray Patry and a granddaughter-in-law Laura Kosakoski.

The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at Age Care Glenmore for their amazing care they gave to Bruce.
