Obituary of Riitta Marjatta MYLLYKOSKI

Riitta Myllykoski of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at the age of 93 years.


Riitta was born in Kotka, Finland, immigrating after WWII to Sweden and Canada in 1952. Strong willed and determined all of her life, she made a warm and welcoming home first in Kirkland Lake, ON, followed by many years in Montreal and eventually Calgary. She was a strong and proud woman who saw beauty in all nature, translating what she saw into her paintings. Riitta loved Canada while remaining true to her Finnish roots.


Riitta is survived by her daughter Mya (John), son Kari, three grandsons, Alex, Ben and Iska; and one granddaughter, Kiiva. 

Riitta was predeceased by her devoted husband Ville in 2003 and her beloved first son, Hannu in 1960.


Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at the  Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
