Obituary of Jacques QUEFELEC

April 18, 1953 – Paris, France
February 8, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jacques Christian Quéfélec, at Chinook Care Centre Hospice in Calgary, AB, on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at the age of 66 years.

Jacques was born in Paris, France on April 18, 1953 and grew up in the region of Alsace. He started to study for his culinary career in Paris, and continued to practice his love for the profession. He met his wife while in Alsace, and would also get married there in March of 1975. Jacques and Madeleine spent time working on a cruise ship, before immigrating to Canada in May 1980. They lived in Toronto, then Saskatoon and later settled in Calgary shortly before the birth of their first child.

His passion was cooking; he loved to make people happy with his food, and the creations he would come up with. He loved listening to music such as, Johnny Hallyday, Elvis, ABBA, and Edith Piaf, to name a few. He was an animal lover, always had a dog around by his side. He loved feeding the squirrels and watching them through the kitchen window. He also had an avid passion for cars. He was always interested in what people were driving, told us stories about the cars he used to drive, and the ones he would love to drive one day. He sure loved his mustang.

Jacques leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Madeleine (née Sturm), daughter, Stephanie (Jason), son, Frederic (Ashton); and grandchildren, Arianna, Naomi, Savannah and Raiden. He is also survived by his father, Christian, his brother, Daniel; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother, Frederique (Wolff), brother, Michel; and his grandparents.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
