Obituary of Clarke Leander HANSEN

February 13, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

 

Clarke Hansen of Calgary, AB, passed away on February 13, 2020 at the age of 94 years.

 

Clarke was born in Camrose, AB, on May 1, 1925. His family moved to Edmonton where he graduated from high school. Then he joined the navy and was stationed in Halifax. In 1947, he married Catherine Phyllis Wandler and they moved to Rosetown, then Saskatoon and later Edmonton where they resided for twelve years before moving to Calgary in 1960. Clarke managed the Woodward’s bakery at Chinook and his hobbies were gardening and woodwork. He was an active parishioner in many Lutheran churches over the years and will be remembered for his strong faith, his love of family, his flowers and his good humour.

 

Clarke is survived by his two sons and two daughters-in-law, David & Cheryl and Eric & Laurie, all of Calgary, AB; two grandsons and their wives, Greg & Kajsa of Calgary, AB and Kevin & Andrea of Vulcan, AB; and six great-grandchildren, Robert, Abigail, Joseph, and John of Calgary, AB and Emily and Olivia of Vulcan, AB. He was predeceased by his wife Catherine of sixty-three years and his adopted sister Dell. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Vets’ Angels or the Veteran’s Food Bank.  Many thanks for the wonderful care he received from the staff at the Colonel Belcher Nursing Home and the Peter Lougheed Center.
