Obituary of Louise (Ludwinka) BERG

November 17, 1930 - March 12, 2020

With sadness, we announce the passing of our Mom Louise Berg, of Calgary, AB on Thursday, March 12, 2020, at the age of 89 years.

Born and raised in Saskatoon, Louise became a teacher in rural Saskatchewan where she taught in various one-room-schoolhouse communities before gaining a teaching assignment in Kindersley. It is there that she met our Dad, whom she married on July 12, 1958.

She is survived by her six children, Marie (Victor) Wong, Phil (Tara) Berg, Kathy (Greg) Popoff, Edie Berg, Karen Berg, and Andrew (Lori) Berg; and ten grandchildren, William, Tabitha, Hanna, A.J., Aidan, Kane, Sophie, Alec, Georgina, and Lynaia. She is also survived by her brothers, Wally (Donna) Kolysher and Dan (Alice) Kolysher of Saskatoon, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Louise is predeceased by her husband, George Berg in 2007, her parents, John and Annie (Chrun) Kolysher, sister Olga and brother Paul Kolysher.

Louise will be laid to rest alongside George at Queens Park Cemetery. Given the pandemic situation, the family will not be holding a public gathering at this time.

In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, please make a donation to the charity of your choice in Louise’s memory. Or, in celebration of the friend and Mom-to-all that she was, buy your neighbour a coffee, and stop and spend a few moments to say hi.

We would like to thank Dr. Barbara Smyth and the caring staff at Bow View Manor, who showed such kindness in her brief time in their care. We were given one of the most poignant and memorable experiences in your facility. Also thank you to Dr. Sharmilla Naidoo of Foothills Medical Centre and the Transition Services Team, for their care over many ups and downs in the preceding months.

Breathe easy Mom.
