Obituary of Marjorie Irene COOK

November 25, 1934 - Cereal, Alberta

March 12, 2020 - Airdrie, Alberta

Marjorie Cook of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Thursday, March 12, 2020, at the age of 85 years.

Marj was the third of six children born to John and Magdalena Rosenau. She was raised on the family farm near Chinook, AB. As a young woman Marj moved to Hanna, AB and worked at the Royal Bank. She married Raymond Cook in November 1959, and the newlyweds moved to the big city of Calgary. Marj kept busy raising four children and running the household. She returned to the workforce in 1978, joining Hudson General Aviation until her retirement. She was a great cook; one could only hope for an invitation to a home-cooked meal and a few games of cards. She was also very talented at sewing, crocheting, and cross-stitch; her beautiful creations could be found throughout her home. Marj enjoyed camping, hiking, biking in Kananaskis, and bowling in the winter months. Barbados and Florida were her favorite vacation destinations.

Marj was a loving and supportive mother and will be greatly missed by her children and their spouses, Linda and Rob, Jamie and Richard, Rhonda and Lyle, and Steven and Amaris; and her eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who brought her so much joy. Marj is also survived by her sister Reta, and her brother Ed. She was predeceased in October of 2018 by her loving husband of fifty-nine years, Ray, as well as her grandson Robbie, brothers, John, and Kenny; and her sister Darlene. It is a comfort to know they are together again.

A Funeral Service for Marjorie will be held in Calgary on Saturday, July 25, 2020, however due to the current COVID-19 pandemic and Alberta Health Services limitations on group gatherings, the funeral will regrettably be for family only. The Funerl Service will be recorded and a link will be posted to the obituary after the service. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Marjorie’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
