Obituary of Janet (nee Nielsen) CHAUVIN

July 18, 1941 – Prince Albert, Saskatchewan

March 18, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Janet Chauvin beloved wife of the late Yvon Chauvin of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at the age of 78 years.

Janet was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan and her parents later moved the family to Vancouver, British Columbia for a period of time.  From there, the family ventured to Calgary, Alberta where this became her home - a place she loved and never wanted to leave. A place where she could raise her family.

Her favorite hobby was crochet.  She was a true Art Master at crochet and created beautiful things. Everyone in the family has a “Janet Original” – from bunny blankets to scarves, to toques and mitts, to even little brides in their wedding gowns, her creative juices were always flowing when she was crocheting. If she didn’t have needles in her hands, she had a bingo dabber in her hand. She easily made friends, some who would become part of her extended family. She saw the beauty in everyone she encountered. Her judge of character was second to none. In her earlier years, her and Yvon loved to camp throughout Alberta. The places they saw and stayed at are endless. She loved her country as much as she loved her family. Over time, her hobbies evolved. Recently, her favorite day of the week was Saturday where she would spend the day with her daughter Shelley and son-in-law Randy (“The Three Musketeers”) having fun in whatever adventure they found themselves in.

Janet’s most memorable vacation was when she went with her mom Hazel touring around England, sight-seeing and visiting family. The bound that they forged during this adventure created a foundation between mother and daughter that would shape their relationship for years to come.

Janet will be most remembered for her kind, caring, and giving spirit.  She always put others before herself.  When ever she  hosted family gatherings, she ensured that everyone was well fed and looked after. We all will remember the love she put into everything. She welcomed all people from all walks of life and embraced kind souls without judgement.

She is survived by her daughter (and best friends), Shelley and son-in-law Randy. Her son, Lyndon and daughter-in-law, Sherry, all of Calgary, Alberta.  She is survived by her two granddaughters, Patricia (including her great grandson, Aiden) and April. Her Sister, Holly (Henry) of Calgary, Alberta and her brother, Raymond (Georgia) of Creston, British Columbia and her sister-in-laws, Janice (Doug) and Dorothy (Maurey), all of Alberta.  As well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that she welcomed into her home and heart throughout her life.

Besides being predeceased by her husband, Yvon, Janet was predeceased by her parents, Hazel and Oscar, her sister, Ingrid, her brothers Maurey and Doug, & nephews Stephen and Guy.

God took our precious mom way too soon, but we know he gave her peace.

Our hearts break for the loss of our precious Mom, and she will be deeply missed. She will live on forever in our hearts and soul.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Janet’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
