Louise was born in Norquay, SK, on July 29, 1930. After moving west through Regina and Calgary, she married John Shanahan in 1953 while living in Banff. Louise then moved east to Ontario where she started her family. She began her journey west again, with stopovers in Watson, Regina, and Banff, then finally making her home in Calgary. Louise’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy, and their happiness was her greatest pride. She will be most remembered for wanting to feed her family with love, laughter and cabbage rolls, not to mention instilling competitiveness in all of us over a cribbage board.

Louise was a proud mother of five sons, Patrick of Vancouver, BC, David (Leanne) of Regina, SK, Robert (Joanne) of Airdrie, AB, John (Anita) of Langham, SK, and Gerald (Tammi) of Calgary, AB; two daughters, Cecelia, and Catherine Mackie (Patrick); her grandchildren, Lauren Killam, Russell Shanahan, Jeremy Chernishenko, Aimee Shanahan, Krista Oestreich, Heidi Shanahan, Curtis Shanahan, Brayden Shanahan, Michael Shanahan, Janessa Shanahan, Jordan Shanahan, Megan Quinney, Jeremy Shanahan, and Laura Shanahan; and her great-grandchildren, Hallie, Logan, Madison, Conrad, Ella, Umoja, Aaliyah, Caleb, Ronan, River, Turner, Piper, Tannaya, Emmett, Aiden, Jackson, Madison, Layla, Maliyah, Bailey, Elizabeth, Natalie, and Danielle. Luba is also survived by her three sisters, Cecelia Dernisky of Yorkton, Rose Lukey of Saskatoon, and Anne Repzchuck of Edmonton, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Luba was predeceased by her daughter, Cecelia, parents, John and Magdelena Twerdoclib; and her siblings, Victor, Mary, Elizabeth, Sister Pauline, Albert, William, Allan, Marion and Martin.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
