Obituary of Patricia TYWONIUK

August 25, 1931 – Barrhead, Alberta April 11, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta Patricia (Pat) passed away suddenly in Calgary on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at the age of 86 years. Pat was born and raised on the family farm near Barrhead, and lived in the area until 1989. She commenced employment with the TD Bank after high school, and had a very long and satisfying career. Pat met her husband, Ted in Barrhead, and they were married in 1953. For ten years they operated a Jersey dairy farm south of Barrhead. Their sons, Brian and Geoff, were born while they lived on the farm (in 1954 and 1957). In 1962, Pat and Ted sold the dairy farm and moved into town. Once the boys were both in school, Pat resumed her career with the bank, and worked there until she retired in 1988. In 1972, Pat and Ted bought a lot at Lac La Nonne, and built a cozy lake cottage over the next several years. They loved being at the lake, and much family time was spent there. In 1989, Pat and Ted moved to Edmonton to be near family and to eliminate their commute to attend Edmonton Oilers hockey games. They were avid fans and loyal season ticket holders, and felt very fortunate to have been witness to the Oilers success in their glory years of the 1980’s. Pat continued to live in Edmonton until 1996, at which time she moved to Calgary, where she resided until her passing. During 2012, Pat’s health deteriorated rapidly, and she lived the past six years in long term care due to suffering from dementia. Pat’s passions were spending time with her family, her pets (dogs and cats) and gardening. She loved flowers and could identify pretty much any type. Pat was mostly a very proper English lady, and was always fashionably classy in her attire; however she did have a very feisty, witty and fun loving personality underlying her proper British persona. She will be forever loved and sadly missed by her son and daughter-in-law, Geoff and Lisa; daughter-in-law Doris; four grandchildren, Wade, Paige (Daniel), Caitlin and Kristina; and one great-grandson Jesse. She is also survived by Ted’s brother Les and his sister Mary, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband Ted in 1990; her son Brian in 2010; her parents, Harold and Julia; and her sisters, Elsie (Paul) and Barbara (Lloyd). A Memorial Service will be held at St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, () on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
