Obituary of Eileen Doris SHAVER (nee Stevens)

May 12, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Eileen Doris Shaver of Calgary, AB, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at the age of 95 years.

Here is our snapshot of our wonderful and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Eileen Doris Shaver. Eileen was born and raised in England by her parents Albert Robert Stevens and Alice May Stevens. It was from her parents that she developed her lifetime love of gardening. She was an English Rose who captured the heart of her future husband, Lenard Robert Shaver, after meeting in an air raid shelter in London, and to whom she was married to for fifty-six years. She was one of many thousands of War Brides who immigrated to Canada, after working such a dangerous job as a munition worker. She first settled as a pioneer in the ‘Big Muddy Saskatchewan’, and later resided in the Calgary community of Bowness. She has left a legacy of treasured memories of love and commitment to our family, which has endured in the following generations. Her love of animals was important in her long life. She was an active member in the Bowness Seniors and the Canadian Legion.

At peace now, after being reunited with her loving husband, she leaves behind her children, Clint and Brenda (Pete); and grandchildren both past and present, Lance (Michelle), David, Christopher, Robert, Karen, Amanda (Christopher) and Leigh.  She leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Emily, Henry and George Penn.Very important members of her family include her son-in-law Pete Stephenson, Darlene Nakonechny, Christopher Penn and Michelle Shaver.

Thank you so very much for all your love, happy memories, and the laughter that you brought to all our lives. You will always be a shining star, always loved and never forgotten.
