Vincent (Vince) DENIS

Obituary of Vincent (Vince) Joseph DENIS

1930 - 2020

Vincent Joseph Denis (Vince) passed away peacefully at his home in Calgary, AB, on Saturday, May 30, 2020.

Vince and his wife Patsy operated a successful antique stall at the Crossroads Market in Calgary for many years prior to their retirement. Vince was proud of having served in the army, and was posted to Egypt during the Suez Canal crisis in the ‘50s. His service back in Canada included driving Queen Elizabeth across Canada on her 1959 Royal Tour – a role of which he was most proud to have fulfilled. He will be remembered for his generosity of spirit, always willing to lend a helping hand to those around him, his gentlemanly manners and great sense of humour. To the very end, his military training never left him, always responding ‘yes ma’am’ ‘yes sir’ and keeping immaculate order to his clothing and belongings.

He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Therese Seamon, Denis, and Michael Brown (Virginia), Pauline Martin (Alberta), Susan Martin (New Brunswick), Diane MacPhee (nee Cantin) (Nova Scotia), Maureen Moon Delany and Gary Delany (UK); his cousin Lucie Godbout (Quebec); sister-in-law Vivian Delany Martin (Peter) (New Brunswick). He was fortunate to have a great friend, George Daniels, in his later years with whom he shared many good times and laughs! Vince was predeceased by his wife Patricia (Patsy) (nee Delany), beloved son Kevin, sister Irene, and parents, Laura and Edward Denis.

Some of Vince’s best elder years were spent at Sage Hill Retirement Residence thanks to the care of the nurses and support staff there who treated him as one of their own family – a heartfelt thank you to all of them! And also to the many residents that he loved and called friends.

Cremation has taken place and a Private Family Service will be held at Ascension Catholic Church, Calgary NW. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Vince’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.

In living memory of Vince Denis, a tree will be planted in the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Crowfoot, 82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE NW, CALGARY, AB T3G 2T3, Telephone: 403-241-0044.
