Obituary of Roger Joseph DESPINS

November 17, 1958 – Calgary, Alberta March 13, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta It is with tremendous sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Roger Joseph Despins on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at the age of 59 years. Born and raised in Calgary, AB, Roger worked at the family hardware store in his youth and with Despins Bros Construction for many years around Alberta and even braved the winter cold of Uranium City, SK. He was a master carpenter of exceptional skill, personally designing and building multiple homes throughout his years, including his family’s homes. He was always passionate about his projects, and time spent in his garage. He was also a manager for Calgary Co-op for thirty-four years, and was preparing to retire this May. Roger had a wonderful sense of humour and made us all laugh. He loved camping and fishing with his friends and family and, more recently, took pleasure in mountain trips and time well spent with his loving partner Suzanne. He will be missed by many. Roger is survived by his children, Andre and Joelle; his mother Yvette; his siblings, Lorraine (Ernie), Marc, Phil (Vickie) and Gisele (Larry); his partner Suzanne; and his ex-spouse Valerie. Roger was predeceased by his father Bernard. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow at the funeral home.
