Obituary of Donna Marie MCCORMICK

Donna Marie McCormick (nee Buckingham) beloved mother, grandmother and sister of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2020 at the age of 65 years.

Donna was born in Calgary, AB, on October 2, 1954.
After graduating from Central Memorial High School, she started working for the Alberta Government Telephones in Calgary as a Directory Assistance Operator. Donna married Terrance Nial McCormick “Terry” on June 22, 1973. Donna and Terry devoted many hours at the hockey arena volunteering with the North Memorial Amateur Sports Association (NASA) in Calgary. For many years Donna operated a Dayhome in Calgary. She provided caring and nurturing childcare for youngsters of all ages.

Donna enjoyed many interests; crocheting, quilting, painting with water colours, playing board and card games and picking berries at the LeBlanc farm in Acme, AB.  As our family historian, Donna had a passion for researching ancestry and creating family trees.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her beloved children, precious grandchildren, family and friends. She appreciated the beauty of nature and all the changing seasons. She had vivid childhood memories of wonderful family summer vacations at the Buckingham farm in Parkside, SK.

Donna is survived by her loving family: one daughter and  one son-in-law, Krista Marie and Serge Romeo LeBlanc of Acme, AB, One son and one daughter-In-law, Kevin Nial and Noelia Elizabeth McCormick of Airdrie, AB; four grandchildren, Brady Alexander LeBlanc and Lauren Jose Marie LeBlanc of Acme, AB, and Mateo Nial McCormick and Natalie Elizabeth McCormick of Airdrie, AB. Donna is also survived by her one brother and one sister-in-law,  David and Amy Buckingham of Windsor, ON; three sisters and one brother-in-law; Cheryl Buckingham of Calgary, AB,  Debbie Mitchelmore of Saskatoon, SK,  Barbara and Bruce Cranch of Victoria, BC; one  aunt Beryl Halvorsen of Calgary, AB, one uncle Jim Furnald of Calgary AB;  one brother-in-law and one sister-in-law, Daniel and Marilyn McCormick of Seattle, Washington, one sister-in -law and one brother- in-law; Kathleen and David Green of Chestermere, AB and mother-in-law Victoria Alice Harper of Calgary, AB; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Donna was predeceased by her husband, Terrance Nial McCormick, her parents, Bertha Alette (nee Halvorsen) and George Reginald Buckingham, her father-in-law, Nial McCormick,  and her brother-in-law Scott Mitchelmore.
