It is with heavy hearts that the family of Elizabeth Maitland announce her sudden passing at the Rockyview Hospital in Calgary on Sunday August 02, 2020 at the age of 92 years. She was born in Bo'ness, Scotland on June 09, 1928, the only child of Barbara Finlayson Budge. She was predeceased by her husband of twenty-four years Philip Bonner Maitland as result of a car accident on May 22, 1974.

Elizabeth grew up and received her education at the Grange School in Grangemouth, Scotland. She was a switchboard operator with Scottish Oils Ltd. in Grangemouth, Scotland. It was here, that she met and married her life's partner Philip, a marine engineer on December   8,1949. In 1952, they immigrated to Canada to pursue their dreams together initially settling in Deseronto, ON. Within a few years, the family grew to four with the birth of Frank in 1952 and Ralph in 1955. The family then moved to Oshawa, ON where Philip began a successful career with General Motors of Canada as a machine repairman; a position he held until May of 1974.

Elizabeth continued on life's path as a widow from 1974 on wards. The first three years were an adventure, moving from Oshawa to Vancouver to Zurich to Scotland, then back to Oshawa where she joined Sears Canada in telephone catalog sales department and Ralph her youngest son, attended and completed university. Soon after, Ralph secured employment with Petro Canada in Calgary. Not wanting to be alone, she joined him in Calgary for the final years of her life.

She enjoyed knitting, cooking, going on drives in the country, attending her grandchildren's activities, but traveling was her passion. She visited Scotland, Isle of Man, Ireland, Switzerland, Israel, the Caribbean, but Mazatlan Mexico was her favourite destination. It was here that she built many friendships while traveling with her son Ralph, daughter-in-law Sandra and grandchildren.

Elizabeth is survived by her eldest son Frank Maitland of Calgary, son Ralph (Sandra) Maitland of Calgary; granddaughter Elizabeth (Abbas) Hamzeh of Calgary, and grandson Philip Maitland of Calgary; and great-grandchildren, Mila and Noah Hamzeh.
