Obituary of Anna Veronica KAPUSCINSKI

March 25, 1926 - Chelm, Poland
August 30, 2020 - Calgary, Alberta

With tearful thoughts and joyous memories, we announce the peaceful passing of our mother and grandmother, Anna Kapuscinski on Sunday, August 30, 2020 at the age of 94 years young.

Anna was born to Michal and Marianna Brzozowska in Chelm, Poland. After World War II, Anna immigrated to Canada in 1949. In 1950, she settled in Calgary, AB and met the love of her life, Czeslaw Kapuscinski.  Our mother was very accomplished in all aspects of her life. She was most proud of her Polish heritage and her family, especially her only grandson, Evan. She cherished all the fun times she had with Evan, who kept her young in years. She loved cooking her traditional Polish dishes and hosting dinner parties for her family, friends and neighbours. Anna enjoyed sewing and crafting with her eldest daughter Donna, camping with her husband, daughters and sons-in-law in Kootenay National Park, gardening, cross-country skiing at Lake Louise, and going on golf trips and picnicking in Bragg Creek. She was a member of the Ladies Polish Combatants Association (SPK) and a parishioner of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Our mother and grandmother was a woman of boundless energy. She was strong, determined, and a fiercely independent woman. We will miss her every day.

“In life we loved you dearly; in death we love you still. In our hearts you hold a place; no one else will ever fill”.

Anna will be deeply missed by her twin daughters, Christeen (Roy) Finzel and Eileen (Robin) Maliphant; as well as her adoring grandson Evan McKenzie Maliphant (Kayla Kiazyk). She is also survived by her sister Ceclyia Franke and niece Dana (Zybigniew) Debowska of Slupsk, Poland, her nephew Frank (Pat) Prystupa and cousins, Jennifer (Paul) Fischer and Michael Prystupa of Calgary, AB; and numerous cousins in Poland.  She was predeceased by her loving husband Czeslaw, her beautiful eldest daughter Mary Donna, her sisters, Janina Brzozowska and Victoria Prystupa; her niece Christine Zelem, and cousin Aaron Zelem.
