Obituary of Eleanor Mary ROBERTS (nee Ainslie)

June 18, 1936 – Edmonton, Alberta

September 5, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Eleanor Roberts of Calgary, AB, passed away in her home on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at the age of 84 years.

Although she grew up in Edmonton, Calgary was her home for 65 years and she strongly supported both the Calgary Stampeders & Flames. Eleanor worked as a clerk in her father’s hardware store, WW Arcade (Edmonton) and joined Simpsons Sears North Hill in 1972, where she worked for 10 years. She loved assisting the public and winning prizes from the local media; giving them away to family and friends. Eleanor retired when Jack did and they travelled to many exciting countries. Everyone was touched by Eleanor’s generosity and caring of others.

Eleanor is survived by her daughter Diane, sons, John Jr (Michelle), Terry and David (Karen); grandsons, Jason and Dex (Shaylee); and great-grand twins, Arianna and Tristen. She was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, John “Jack”, both parents, sisters, Doreen and Dorothy; brother Robert and daughter-in-law Bonnie

Funeral Services will be held at Parkdale Grace Fellowship (2608-1 Ave NW, Calgary, AB), on Friday, September 11, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the Silver Springs Golf and Country Club (1600 Varsity Estates Dr NW, Calgary, AB). In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to The Calgary Humane Society, www.calgaryhumane.ca. Eleanor always enjoyed the company of her animals; as a lover of dogs having at least one all through her life.
