Obituary of Richard Lawrence WHITNEY III

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Richard Lawrence Whitney III of Tsuut’ina Nation, AB on Tuesday, September 8, 2020, at the age of 44 years.

Richard had a heart of gold, the kindest soul and passion for doing what was right. He always helped those in need with random acts of kindness. Richard was always a family man first, and loved his children unconditionally. He greeted everyone with a smile and a joke. Richard loved to travel with family and friends, and lived life to the fullest. He was an incredible father, husband, son, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.

Richard is survived by his children, Tiffani (Chris), Trenten and Trevon Whitney; god-daughter Raven Whitney, god-son Daven Big Plume; his only granddaughter Huntleigh; parents, Larry and Flora; brothers, Randy, Paul and Kelly Whitney, Ronald RR and Travis Olds; sisters, Lisa and Charlene Whitney and Andrea Runner; the mother of his children, Crystal, girlfriend Kaitlyn; and his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom he loved dearly. Richard was predeceased by his brother Rick Whitney; grandparents, Lawrence and May Whitney, Jack and Mary RR; uncles, Lee, Loyal (Susan), Gordon-Tap; aunties, Lynn and Marlene; and niece Reanne Whitney.

Wake Services will be held at the residence of Richard Whitney (950 Bullhead Road, Tsuut’ina Nation, AB) on Friday, September 11, 2020, at 6:00 P.M.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (10827- 24th Street SW, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, September 12, 2020, at 1:00 P.M. with Graveside Service to follow at Tsuut’ina Cemetery, (Tsuut’ina Nation, AB). Traditional Feast will be held at the Tsuut’ina Seven Chief’s Sportsplex (Tsuut’ina, AB) immediately following the graveside.

The family would like to thank Rockyview General Hospital Unit 94 Dr. Kennan, and nurses Dennis and Colleen.
