Obituary of Adelle REIMER

October 7, 1930 – Sheho, Saskatchewan

September 9, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Adelle Reimer of Calgary AB, on Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at the age of 89 years.

Adelle was born on a farm in the village of Sheho, SK, the eleventh of twelve children. Life on the farm was hard. With the passing of her mother at an early age, the three youngest sisters were tasked with running the farm while the brothers were away in the army. During this time, she developed her strong work ethic as daily farm chores were demanding on top of school studies, and running the household.

Her strong work ethic also carried over to school where she was an excellent student, the top of her class. After high school, she completed a four year program and graduated as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse in Weyburn, SK. She met the love of her life, Ernie Reimer at a baseball game, and three months later they were engaged.  They relocated to Calgary, married in 1953, and two years later started their family. This past April, they happily celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary. While raising four children, Adelle pursued a successful career in the Insurance and the Oil & Gas Industry. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. Ernie and Adelle's home was the hub for family gatherings and celebrations. Family is, and always has been very important.  Adelle was a most welcoming hostess and countless delicious meals were lovingly prepared.  Friends and family travelling through the province always stopped in to enjoy their hospitality. Socially, Ernie and Adelle were extremely active, cultivating and maintaining many life long friendships.  

In later years, they developed a passion for travel and touched all of the continents, together or with friends and family. Stories of these adventures are shared to this day, with the Sahara Desert excursion being Adelle's favorite.

Adelle is survived by her  loving husband Ernie, their children Brenda (Brian), Richard (Tina), Bev (Murray) and Brad; their grandchildren, Michelle (Neil), Kathy (Jer), David (Jamie Lee), Sean (Amber), Jamie (Chris), Jessica (Devin), Jason (Morgan); great-grandchildren, Declan, Paisley, Lily, Addison, Emma, Georgia, Everly, Emerson, Eliza and Lydia; and sister Kristine Kerr, and many nieces and nephews.
