Obituary of Yvonne Theresa (nee Many Guns) BLACKHORSE

It is with great sorrow the family announces the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and auntie, Yvonne Theresa Black Horse (Many Guns) Omiyanis’tawayakiia, September 7, 2020 at the age of 78 years.

Yvonne shared her love for life with her beloved husband Jerry, 52 years of marriage. She expressed her love for all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren nieces and nephews unconditionally. She was always so proud to talk about their accomplishments. She was a social butterfly, always greeting you with her beautiful smile and willing to share a laugh with her silly humor. She had many friends especially through the cursillo movement. Yvonne was known to be a strong devoted Catholic who had a lot of faith and always encouraged others to pray. She had a strong passion for Blackfoot teachings and was always willing to share her knowledge about our culture and traditional ways of life. Activities she enjoyed were curling, bowling, pool, golf and, in her younger day,  she was a strong passionate horsewoman with her treasured horse, Chief. Yvonne attended Crowfoot Residential School for a number of years. She also worked for Siksika Nation for numerous years as a teacher’s aid, supervisor at Crowfoot School, school bus driver, liaison worker with Chief and council, children shelter supervisor, and with culture and Heritage. She also worked with many departments within Siksika Nation and The Blackfoot Crossing Interpretive Centre. Yvonne will be dearly missed by many whom she had a loving impact, and most of all her beautiful smile. May our mom rest in peace and watch over all of us.
