Janet NEYRINCK (nee DAVIES)

Obituary of Janet Marion NEYRINCK (nee DAVIES)

July 24, 1937 – Calgary, Alberta

September 20, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Janet Neyrinck of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at the age of 83 years.

Janet was born in Calgary, AB, on July 24, 1937 to Mary Whyte and Henry (Stan) Davies. Mary was from Taber, AB and Henry (Stan) emigrated from PontyPool, Wales with his parents, Henry and Bessie. The family lived in the town of Forest Lawn and had a grocery store and post office (where the ATB sits in Forest Lawn now). Her paternal grandparents (farmed on land where the T&C Hotel sits today). Mary and Stan had three children, Alberta Stanley (Bud) Davies, Janet (Jan) Marion Davies and Donna Marlene Davies. Janet was the middle child, Bud was the eldest and Donna the youngest.

Mom/grandma also really loved animals and she had many visits from PALS while in care. PALS (Pet Access League Society) is a non-profit, registered, charitable organization in Calgary dedicated to enhancing the quality of individuals through pet therapy. They visit many seniors each year in care. Mom/grandma found it difficult to go into care as she was fiercely independent as we all know. She always wanted things on her terms but she made the best of it and she still could smile despite her health challenges.

There are many friends who have been in Mom’s life over the years and I want to mention a few. Heidi visited her often in care and kept her smiling. Tammy spoke to her often, Joanne who also visited and helped lift her spirits and was a fixture at Stampede Parades. Others like Arlene who was a life-long friend who always was checking up on mom. Ron who worked with her at Alliance was always concerned.  Liz from way back in mom’s fun days. Cheryl who recently got back in touch. She also had great times in the past with Mike, France, Vicky and Kim at dinners and the Stampede Parade.  Charlene who has been a family friend since we were both young.  Sylvia who always admired Janet as an independent business women. James and Mike who moved to Toronto a few years back were welcome at dinners at Janet’s. Alison and Paul who are Jarrett’s godparents.

Janet is survived by her daughter, Diana Noelle Griffith (nee Kee) and son-in-law Hal; beloved grandson Jarrett Elijah Brown and his father, Richard Brown and partner Ruth; step-grandchildren Jon Griffith, Rachael and Mike Frank; great grand-daughter Ariel,

sister-in-law and nieces Ruth Davies (dec. Bud), Darlene, Kelly,  Audrey and Marilyn and their families (Audrey and Marilyn were flower girls when Janet married her daughter, Diana’s, father Robert Noel Kee in 1959); her sister Donna’s children, Carrie (d. Nicole), Terry, and Joelle (son Daniel); her sister-in-law, nieces and nephew Rosemary (dec. Dave) Darlene, Ron, Lorna, and Michelle and their families; and sister-in-law, nieces and nephews Joyce Larsen (dec. Norman), Gail, Maureen, Karen, Doug, Bruce, Brian and their families. She also leaves behind Francis Neyrinck (divorced) and stepchildren, Kim, Corrie, Christina, Robert and their families; her grandson Joshua Neyrinck, mom Carla deceased; along with nephews, nieces and several great nieces and nephews.
