Obituary of Domenico PUGLIA

Domenico Puglia, beloved husband of Luisa (nee Fedele), passed away in Calgary, AB, on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at the age of 94 years. Domenico was born July 5, 1926 in Teramo, Italy, the third of five children born to Giuseppe Puglia and Maria (nee Galiffa).

In 1951, Domenico and his younger brother Achille (Angelo) immigrated to Dour, Belgium, to work in the coal mines. On December 28, 1952, Domenico and Luisa were married in Teramo and on April 19, 1953 Luisa joined him in Dour, where their son Joe (1955) and their daughter Anna (1956) were born. Domenico and his brother Achille made the decision to immigrate to Canada with their wives and their children and on March 3, 1957 they settled in Calgary, AB.

Domenico became a successful business owner and home builder. He was passionate about his Italian traditions of making wine, sausages and of course, his garden.

His greatest love and joy was his family and he was the most happy when he was surrounded by his beloved wife Luisa, son Joe (Kim), daughter Anna (Reg), his four grandchildren, Paula (Keegan), Michael (Satomi), Domenic (Jennifer), Gabriel; and his six great-grandchildren, Chiara, Merrick, Angelica, Dante, Yamato, and Marlow. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.
