Obituary of Sandra Patricia SUMLAK (née Maas)

Sandra Sumlak, beloved wife of Dwight Sumlak of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at the age of 59 years.

Sandra was born on March 19, 1961, in Woking, Surrey, England, to Paul and Pat Maas. In 1968 they moved to the United States, and in 1975 they arrived in Montreal, QC. Later that year they settled in Calgary, AB.

Sandra married the love of her life, Dwight, on August 29, 1981, in Calgary, and they had an amazing thirty-nine years of marriage together. They were best friends and shared countless memories.

Sandra loved spending time with her amazing husband, Dwight, much loved children, Tara and Jarrod; and three adored grandchildren, Alexis, Nicholas, and Brielle. She also loved visiting all her family in British Columbia, and recently had a wonderful trip visiting her dad and her brothers and sister along with their families in September 2019.

Sandra enjoyed reading, travelling, enjoying coffee with her wonderful friends, and walks with her beloved dog Zoey, and had an extreme joy for all things Winnie the Pooh.

Sandra was a beautiful, smart, caring, giving, compassionate, loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She touched many hearts in her short fifty-nine years of life. The world has lost an extraordinary woman.

She will be deeply missed by her husband Dwight, son Jarrod, daughter Tara (Lawrence); grandchildren, Alexis, Nicholas, and Brielle; father Paul Maas, brothers, Richard Maas (Cheri), Andrew Maas (Aileen), Justin Maas (Maggie), sister Penny Routledge (Richard); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and her dog Zoey. Sandra was predeceased by her loving mother Pat Maas in 2017.
