Obituary of Michael James THIESSEN

December 19, 1989 – London, Ontario

October 2, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Michael James Thiessen of Calgary, AB, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2020 at the age of 30 years, surrounded by his family.

Michael was born in London, ON, on December 19, 1989. He moved to Calgary, AB, in 1998 and attended Dr. EP Scarlett High School. Michael has a passion for music, which he received training through the Royal Conservatory of Music. He played piano, guitar, violin, drums; and he composed his own original music. He loved watching and following NBA Basketball, documentaries, and researching one of his many favorite topics. Michael loved visiting the mountains and had fond memories of family trips to Canmore and Banff. He will be remembered fondly for his selflessness, great sense of humour, humility, gentle spirit, and enormous strength in times of adversity. 

Michael is survived by his father, David Thiessen of Calgary, AB, his brothers, Daniel and Matthew Thiessen of Calgary, AB; his sister and brother-in-law Janice and Paul Keene; his nephews, Samuel and Liam Keene of Toronto, ON; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and co-workers. Michael was predeceased by his mother Pamela Thiessen of Calgary, AB.
